Hey sweetie! I have a question lol =) I normally eat healthy but lately been snacking on foods that I normally would avoid. So I was thinking of doing a detox to start clean. Does detox work? I am not doing it to lose weight, rather to clean my body.

Hello Alya! It’s me again – the one who asked the detox Q. I was wondering which detox you recommend and how I would go about doing it? I’ve heard about the fruit detox. What are your thoughts on it? Just trying to decide the best one…

Answer:

Hey my gorgeous love!!  Thanks for your interest in my blog and for the awesome question!

Detox is the body’s natural process of getting rid of toxins from the body which are inhaled from the environment and eaten from lots of bad for us foods.  Since our bodies naturally get rid of toxins by themselves, many health professionals don’t believe they are necessary stating that there is no evidence that detoxing diets are helpful.

I am not into doing the lemonade diet, eating only fruits, taking laxatives, or following any crazy or extremely low calorie cleansing diets.  What I am into is detoxing the healthy way by eating foods that are loaded with all that good stuff (antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins) which promote healthy liver function-speeding up the waste removal process.

Below is how I detox!  Also if I have a bad weekend of binge eating, I eat less for the next several days to give my body a little rest.   Overeating is a bad habit which should be stopped; it causes a lot of illnesses.

I Snack to Stay Slim

So if you follow my blog you prob know by now that I LOVEEEEE to eat! I am constantly eating which is why my fam calls me piggy all the time and tease me about changing my blog’s name to Alya’s Fat Club.  I guess they are right-I am Miss Piggy! :) I didn’t believe them until I saw a video tape of my college graduation and every time the camera is on me I have something in my mouth LOL. So what I enjoy food; it’s surprising for how much I eat that I don’t weigh 300 pounds.  Luckily I don’t and genes have a lot to do with it but also my secret to staying slim is eating often and slowly!  However even though I am eating all day long my overall total calories aren’t exceeding my recommended daily allowance for my height, weight, and activity level.

I am always pushing the idea of eating 5 meals daily (3 small meals and 2 snacks) because this combo has helped many lose weight.  Snacking can prevent you from overeating at meal times and eating small meals throughout the day can improve energy levels, boost metabolism, and preserve lean muscle mass.
